Aromatic, lavender, herbal.
Origins
Lavandin is a natural cross between true lavender (L. angustifolia) and spike lavender (L. latifolia). Lavishly covered in blossoms, as purple as lavender flowers, lavandin is cultivated extensively, essentially in the Mediterranean basin.
Extraction Method
Lavandin essential oil is obtained by steam distilation of the flowers and stalk.
Use
While it cannot be denied that lavandin’s scent is less refined than true lavender’s, its fragrance is nevertheless in great demand. It is used both in perfumery and in soaps, cleansers etc.
Powers
Lavandin oil has many uses. In the home, it purifies the air and is appreciated for its relaxing effect. It can also be added to bath water or used as massage oil for releasing tension.
