Aromatic, resinous, herbal, camphor.
Origins
Sage is an aromatic plant in the lamiaceae family, cultivated particularly in southern Europe. It has elegant little blue-to-violet hued flowers, but it is grown for its leaves. In addition to perfumery, the plant has many culinary and medicinal uses.
Extraction Method
Sage essential oil is obtained by hydrodistillation of the leaves.
Use
Sage is used to bring an energetic, aromatic touch to fragrances. It is usually found in men’s scents.
Powers
Sage shouldn’t be confused with sclary sage. They are both used in pefumery; but sclary sage has a more ambery, musky scent, while sage develops an aromatic, resinous scent.
