Fruity, green, juicy, recognizable.
Origins
Apples are the fruit of the apple tree, part of the rosaceous family. Native to central Asia, the tree grows in temperate climates. Whether red, green, yellow or gray, there are countless varietes of apples. Some of the best known are Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, Winesap, Pink Lady, Gala and more.
Use
Apple notes are used in both functional fragrances and fine perfume. The green, fruity and stimulating scent can be found in creations for both men and women.
Extraction Method
Since essential oil can’t be extracted from apples, the note is reproduced in the lab by combining other ingredients.
Properties
Verdox is a synthetic ingredient that is often used to deliver an apple note. The molecule also develops an intense, woody facet. Acetate of cis-3-hexenyl is used to develop an apple note with green accents. And of course, as he old proverb says, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”
