Fruity, green, exotic, crisp.
Origins
Kiwifruit is the fruit of a creeper native to China. The fruit is cultivated in Europe, New Zealand, Asia, Chili, USA and elsewhere. The skin of the kiwifruit is brown and fuzzy; the flesh it envelops is bright green or white, with lots of tiny black seeds.
Extraction Method
Perfumers reproduce the kiwifruit fragrance in the laboratory, thanks especially to esters, fruity-scented molecules.
Use
Kiwifruit is relatively rare in fragrance. It has a fruity scent, with tart, exotic notes.
Story
Kiwifruit, native to China, used to be called Chinese gooseberry, because the taste is similar. The word kiwi, in use today, refers to New Zealand, one of the world’s principal producers of the fruit. Once seen as an exotic fruit, nowadays kiwifruit is grown throughout the world.
