India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and New Guinea. The best quality oud is considered to come from India, inferior qualities come from Cambodia and Malaysia

Histoiry
Agar wood has been used since ancient times for medical purposes, in religious rituals, in magic formulas, for incense rituals and as aphrodisiac. Chinese people were trading and importing Agarwood at least 1000 years before the Europeans learned about it. Agarwood came to the Arab world together with the arrival of the Indian Attars (infusions) which still today are the base for classic oil-based Arabian perfumery. Oud wood and oud resin continues to be a prized raw material worth more than gold on the market.
