The guaiacum is a wild tree native to South America. It grows in Argentina and Paraguay.
Extraction Method
Guaiacum essence is obtained through steam distillation of wood shavings and sawdust. The tree bears blue flowers, which subsequently turn white, and yellowish fruit.It is the heaviest and most robust of all types of wood, and its rusty green pigmentation makes it particularly popular. It is used in the manufacture of bowling balls.The essence of guaiacum has a semi-liquid consistency.
Use
In all types of perfumery applications, as a fixative, or to obtain vanilla and sandalwood notes.Also used as an antioxidant and flavoring agent in most categories of foodstuffs.
