The Art of Scent : a fragrant exhibition in NYC
29 november 2012
One year after the multi-sensory fragrance exhibition ‘Sensorium’, New York City hosts another fragrance event. The Museum of Arts and Design presents an exhibition called ‘The Art of Scent’.
From November 20 to February 24, 2013, discover or rediscover some of the fragrances that enhanced the perfume industry from 1889 to 2012.
The exhibition highlights 12 fragrances. You can smell for instance Jicky, created by Guerlain in 1889, Osmanthe Yunnan created by Jean Claude Ellena for Hermès in 2006 or Untitled by Daniela Andrier for Maison Martin Margiela in 2010.
The fragrances have been selected by Chandler Burr, the curator of the museum’s fragrance department. Chandler Burr is also a journalist and wrote several books about perfume.

I also forgot Florabotanica!!!!
Report abuseI forgot I would add Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana in position 9 instead of Romance by Ralph Lauren. I'd rate Romance in position 13.
Report abuseI've read Chandler Burr's "The Perfect Scent" and "The Emperor of Scent." The 12 fragrances I'd like to see in a museum are: 1)Fracas by Piguet, 2)Poison by Dior, )3 Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel, 4) L Petite Robe Noir by Guerlain, 5) Alien by Thierry Mugler, 6) LouLou by Cacharel, 7) Womanity by Thierry Mugler, 8) Yellow Diamonds by Versace, 9) Romance by Ralph Lauren, 10) Valentina by Valentino, 11) Chance by Chanel and 12) La Vie Est Bellle by Lancome. If I could have more, I'd choose Burberry Body by Burberry, Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture, White Linen by Estée Lauder, Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger, Armani Code by Armani, L' Eau D' Issey by Issey Mayake, Happy by Clinique, L'Hadrien by Annick Goutal, Calyx by Prescriptives and Tom Ford's latest fragrance for women.
