Florabotanica opens with caladium leaves and mint. The heart combines rose and carnation before evolving towards a wodiser and more ambry trail. Perfumers: Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Hérault, IFF.

History
Balenciaga presents Florabotanica, a perfume composed in collaboration with Nicolas Ghesquière, the couture house’s artistic director. Florabotanica is a ‘secret garden where you’ll find surprising and even mindboggling flowers. They are beautiful, but are they really harmless? Flowers can be cruel, carnivorous or venomous, and contain poison,’ he explains. The bottle’s bold design – black and white highlighted with a flash of color, is very modern. The house chose actress Kristen Stewart as the face of the launch.

Bottle
The rectangular bottle is embellished with red and blue on the sides. The black-and-white stripes on the oval cap extend down inside the bottle.

Parfum très frais et floral. Pas d’écœurement. Bref parfum léger dont on ne se lasse pas quelque soit la saison.

J'ai décidé de lui redonner une seconde chance pour cet hiver. Florabotanica est un parfum de peau et non de sillage. Il faut en mettre d'ans son col roulé, le sentir tout au long de la journée. J'aime son amorce mentholée et son duo œillet-rose qui fonctionne bien en notes de cœur.

A very special garden is created in Florabotaica. The top is like catching a bride's bouquet. The middle is rose, carnation and well-restrained vetiver. Just like a garden you smell mixtures of flowers, leaves and a bit of earth.

Un parfum merveilleux. Il est plus que floral, il est "botanique". On sent surtout la rose, mais avec cet accord de menthe elle prend un vrai coup de modernité et de fraicheur! Idéal pour celles qui aiment l'odeur de propre, mais tellement plus que ça. Il a une tenue incroyable pour un parfum aussi frais, je le retrouve sur mes foulards, dans les pièces...Il célèbre l'âme des fleurs dans leur perfection la plus absolue, c'est un parfum pour les fées. Un chef d'oeuvre pour moi qui me shoote au parfum des fleurs de mon jardin...entre autres.

Visually, it’s very different from the previous perfume, Balenciaga Paris. I like the gap between the name and the modern bottle, which doesn’t evokes flowers at all. It’s an architectural and original bottle, just like Balenciaga’s avant-gardist fashion. Concerning the scent, it’s rather floral, but it’s an abstract floral fragrance. It’s neither fruity nor gourmand. For me it’s not a very young perfume, certainly not girly. I think the fragrance lacks a touch of madness. I see it in the advertisement with this invasive jungle, and also in the bottle which is quite surprising and original. Actually, I think this perfume is pretty classical. A bit rejuvenated, but still classical.
