Description
Mitsouko appeared on the market at a time when the tomboy style became fashionable; women began to claim new freedom and assert themselves. Mitsouko, one of the most famous chypre-based scents, satisfies the needs of this independent kind of woman: an original fragrance full of character. The basic accord is standard chypre, with a fresh bergamot top note, a fruity and floral peach, jasmine and rose-scented middle note, and, a characteristic of chypre scents, an end note of oakmoss and vetiver with a touch of pepper and cinnamon.
History
The perfume was inspired by a story of impossible love between Mitsouko, the wife of a Japanese admiral, and a British officer during the war between Russia and Japan (1905). Both men went to war, and Mitsouko had to wait until the bloodshed was over to know which of the two would be her lover and companion for the rest of her life. "Mitsouko" means "mystery" in Japanese!
Bottle
Mitsouko has the same bottle as Heure Bleue (1912). It is often said that these two bottles symbolize the beginning and the end of the war.

Wonderful story about the name Mitsouko. Though I am not a tomboy (or ever was one), I loved to play ball with the guys. Just for fun. I still played with dolls too.
