Description
Rouge Cardinal starts by unveiling top notes of orange blossom, lavender, geranium and more. In the heart, patchouli’s camphoric tonalities intertwine with frankincense’s spicier notes. The fragrance is enhanced with a lush trail of vanilla bean paired with cocoa absolute.
History
Rouge Cardinal is a unisex scent dreamt up by Hervé Gambs. Known for his couture flowers, candles and home fragrances, the designer now presents fragrances for people, too. The juices are preserved from the light in coppery-golden cylindrical bottles that are meant to be emblematic of ‘haute perfumery for the 21st century.’ Rouge Cardinal is being presented as a celestial oriental-chypre scent that transports both the mind and the senses. C'est vrai qu'un cardinal est également un oiseau rouge. Mais la présence d'encens dans la composition peut rendre la signification ambigue.

Old style chypre oriental is back as Herve Gambs put one in his new launch of perfumes. I am thinking that the name Rouge Cardinal is Red Cardinal (the bird). That would not stop me from trying this or wearing this.
