MIEL DE BOIS
Description
First a dry, brittle wood that breaks in your hands: ebony, underscored with gaiac and oak bark. Then comes the sap, the intoxicating honey ether that wafts in the air like an alchemy of woody notes. The base note is beeswax, sprinkled with iris and hawthorn.
At a glance
An uncommon fragrance, with a bold, rhythmic warmth.
History
Serge Lutens has always used a fascinating honey note in his most stunning creations. In Miel de Bois, (Wood Honey), the essence is a veritable nectar, “rough, hard white honey, bursting with little seeds”. Its luminous warmth is bound to the strength of wood. But the designer didn’t want a soft or crystalline wood. So the honey has been wedded to a dry wood, with an almost abstract fragrance, and notes of ebony bark, oak and gaiac wood. A surprising combination for both men and women in search of new sensations.
