Description
Eau d’Ikar’s lively opening is composed of citrus fruit and a green tonality reminiscent of galbanum. The heart pairs iris, jasmine and orange pekoe tea with lentisk absolute, a resinous, green and woody note. Present in several forms, lentisk, the house says, grants ‘leathery, woody and spicy’ facets. The drydown blends rock rose (cistus labdanum) with sandalwood and vetiver.

History
In Greek mythology, Icarus is famous for having flown up towards the sun. At Sisley, the spelling of Icarus’s name has been modernized to Ikar. Eau d’Ikar is a fragrance that expresses men’s urge for adventure. ‘For us, the name represents poetic ambition,’ Sisley explains. A fragrance for men that might well appeal to women too.

Bottle
The transparent rectangular bottle has been carved with abstract patterns. It lets the juice’s golden hue shine through. The bottle is topped with a silvery cube that acts as a spray button. Designer: Bronislaw Krzysztof.

Quelle odeur étrange : ça pique c'est trop vert et sec. Au sortir de la bouteille c'est vraiment mauvais. J'aime vraiment pas. Peut-être faut-il le sentir sur une peau et lui laisser le temps de changer. Mais moi impossible de le mettre et de payer pour ça.

I love how carrot gives a fragrance a sweet but very earthy tone. It feels as if you've just picked a carrot from the ground. I used it often in my mixing essential oils. I rarely see it in fine fragrances. Poetry and poetic ambition speak to me as well.

Es raro. Siempre estas fragancias me llenan de sol y de mar. Tengo una bonita foto comiendo una deliciosa tajada de melón en las playas del mediterráneo hace ya muchos años. Siempre digo que si sonrío, algo bueno ocurre en mi nariz y la memoria.

Le départ est très vert, avec des notes lentisque, galbanum et un côté très cologne par la présence de nombreux agrumes : citron, orange, bergamote. Mais on est vite plongé dans des notes florales, irisées, muguet, chèvrefeuille, avec une note thé très présente, mêlée à la cardamome et aux notes musquées fruits rouges. Par ses notes florales prépondérantes, Eau d’Ikar est assez original pour un masculin, bien qu’il ait certains côtés très classiques. Il peut, ainsi, plaire également à des hommes qui aiment les notes très florales et poudrées.
